A small group of four musicians – Vaughan Hatch, Putu Evie, Gede Semara and Prana Gita – performed Baleganjur Bebarongan using six of the instruments from Mekar Bhuana Aotearoa’s Semara Patangian set as part of the ‘Drumwave’ conceived by the Head of Victoria University’s Music Department Sally Jane Norman and composed by Wellington musician and compose Riki Gooch for the first national recognition of the Maori New Year (called Matariki) as a national holiday.
